Need a good movie?
Posted Wednesday, March 10, at 5:36 PM
"There is a place. Like no place on Earth. A land full of wonder, mystery, and danger! Some say to survive it: You need to be as mad as a hatter.

Which luckily, I am."

I recommend going to see Alice in Wonderland. In 3D if you're into that. If not there is also a 2D one playing.

It was much better than I thought it was gonna be. To be honest I didn't know what to expect. I found the 3D to be smooth. (Some of those 3D movies give me headaches, this didn't.) It had a little of everything from humor, to drama, to action.

As for the cast... The Mad Hatter, played by Johnny Depp, I found to be very fascinating. I'm not sure what it was, maybe the wacky makeup or maybe his personality. He seemed to be a genius rebel hiding behind an insane exterior. Helena Bonham Carter was wonderful as the queen of hearts also. She was totally mental, but it was great.

I'm not sure if this is a movie for young children though. Especially if they scare easy. It's also a little violent.

If you're looking for a good movie this weekend, I definitely recommend checking out Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland."

So, "Have you any idea why a raven is like a writing desk?"

Interesting fact of the day...
Posted Tuesday, March 2, at 9:20 PM

Did you know scientists are saying the 8.8 quake that hit Chile Saturday may have shortened the length of our Earth days? They claim it shortened them by 1.26 microseconds. They also say that it may have shifted the Earth's figure axis by 3 inches. I found this interesting and just thought I would share...

Empty shelves....
Posted Monday, February 22, at 7:47 PM

I can't believe how the stores are cutting back on stocking shelves. I was in Sioux Falls yesterday and was shocked to find that I couldn't find anything! I assume it's all because of "the economy", but it's getting difficult to find what you need or want anymore. I think that accomplishes nothing but sending people to the internet for shopping...

A life worth living?
Posted Wednesday, January 27, at 3:56 PM

I read a story today about the "secrets to a longer life." To pretty much sum it up, scientists found a couple places in the world where people are living longer lives. Reasoning behind this longevity: 1.) Low Meat, Plant-based diet 2.) Ritual of "downshifting" every night...

It can happen to you...

I'm sure many of you are aware of the recent raise in the towing/ ticket fine during snow emergencies. I've noticed that they're not messing around this year. Please try and find a place to park your car beside the street. I know it's really difficult for people without a garage. ...

Seize the Day
Posted Tuesday, December 29, at 5:06 PM

I'm sure not very many of you have heard but James Owen Sullivan aka "The Rev" was found dead in his Southern California home on Monday. He was only 28 years old. The police claim that it looks to be by natural causes. I'm sure you're wondering who he is. He was the drummer and backup vocalist for heavy metal band Avenged Sevenfold. They were voted best new artist at the 2006 MTV Music Video Awards...

Murder in "The Cove"
Posted Wednesday, December 16, at 5:05 PM

Thousands of dolphins are being murdered in Taiji, Japan. I recently rented, and watched "The Cove." For those of you who don't know it's a documentary filmed in a cove in Taiji, Japan. The people working in this cove don't want people filming, or taking pictures down there. That's because what they are doing is sick, and wrong. They are capturing as many dolphins as they can scare and herd into this cove in a day, and killing them...

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!!

As you should already know by now... it's snowing! I love looking out my window and seeing white. I don't like driving in it, but you have to admit it's beautiful! It just makes it seem all the more like December! Today my puppy got to go out in his first real snow covered yard. ...

Oh Christmas Tree!
Posted Friday, November 27, at 7:05 PM

It's getting to be that time of year again! Everyone is spending money, whistling tunes of the holidays, and decorating everything they can get their hands on. Just like every other year about this time right? Well, this year is a little different for me. I get to go and pick out my first Christmas tree! I'm a little excited. I'm living in a very small apartment so picking a reasonable size will be my first step. I found a smaller one at Wal-Mart for 35 dollars that has caught my attention...

I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! I know it's one of my favorite holidays! I just love food. I'll be the first to admit it. I hope you also all have a safe Thanksgiving. Enjoy your time off with family and/or friends! For everybody stressing out about the making of the meal. Take a breath, slow down, and don't miss out on this chance to spend a day off with your loved ones...
