Provider Appreciation Day - Friday, May 7

Posted Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at 11:28 AM

I am a Daycare Provider. Many of you have one, live near one, know one. We welcome your children into our homes and centers every day. We greet them with hugs and smiles. We help you teach them to crawl, sit, walk, talk, potty, play, build, share, dance, sing, color, run, swing, and slide. We even teach them to clean, organize, work hard and to finish. We comfort them when they cry, laugh when they laugh, and learn when they learn. We love your most prized possessions as much as our own. This Friday is Provider Appreciation Day. Thank your provider not just this Friday but every day. And if you already do...we appreciate it. Thank you to all the wonderful families whom I have been allowed to serve over the past seven years here in Spencer. Thank you for letting me be a part of your children's lives every day. It is a joy!

It's also teacher appreciation week. Thank all those teachers who work several hours a day outside of their paid time (and during the summer when they are not getting paid) to make the educational experience the best they can for their students. I know that some people think that teachers don't work hard, but I have had several jobs in my life and this is by far the hardest I have ever worked. But wouldn't trade any thing about my job as it is the most rewarding ever. How amazing to touch the lives of so many wonderful children. I love the quote "If you can read this, thank a teacher." And thank you to whoever is reading this that really do appreciate us.

Anything at all. I was raised on the same farm on which my dad was born. My parents still live there today. I graduated from Eastwood High in 1987 and from Eastern Wyoming College with a degree in Criminal Justice in 1989. I married Randy 19 long years ago and we have 6 children ranging in age from 3 to 18 years old. I have worked numerous jobs from detassling as a teenager, a legal secretary in California, church secretary in Iowa to a daycare provider now. I love being outside and hate doing women stuff inside. I would rather mow the lawn than do dishes or change the tire on my van than sort socks. I am patriotic, opinionated and sometimes loud. I am also a great mom, good friend and I love to laugh - I did marry Randy. I believe in common sense versus reading a book by some "expert". I don't pretend to have all the answers but I am willing to ask the questions that others are afraid to ask and sometimes to my detriment say the things that others only think about saying. I try to avoid confrontation but sometimes it finds me and almost all the time it is necessary to stimulate communication.
