Read this story and tell me that the military is not needed in Haiti. America is here to protect. That's what we do and we do it well.

I will agree that some sort of law-enforcing presence is required. However, I have to say that our military is already overstretched as it is. There's just not a good solution.

I agree that Haiti does need help of some sort but it's time the world steps up and does it's share. America needs to start taking care of America. Get U.N. or Nato troops in there.

Military is not always the answer Leah.

GypsyWillow: Did you read the link? What is your solution for protecting not just those orphans but the aid workers. I have also read where local thugs have been seizing supplies and selling them. Who is going to police that? Are you going to go down there and offer peace rally's to criminals? They only understand one thing -- force -- someone with a bigger gun. And yes, I agree with "mistert" other troops need to lend a hand as well.

Our Military is perfect for the situation.... if they get in there and then get out. I agree that our Military is stretched out to much. I think an answer would be to introduce a draft. Way to few brave Men and Women are being asked to do too much in our WAR against terror. It's time that we as ordinary citizens started to pick up the slack a bit. If a extra tax were inposed to help pay for the War on terror I'd be willing to pay. I only regret that I can not be there with them to fight. They have my thanks,my support and my prayers.

I know your intentions are good but a little history goes a long way. I watched "Aristide and the Endless Revolution" on Netflix if you have that, but it is available on Utube too. American guns have already been in Haiti but not in the hands of Americans. You really need to take the time out of your life and see this.

Anything at all. I was raised on the same farm on which my dad was born. My parents still live there today. I graduated from Eastwood High in 1987 and from Eastern Wyoming College with a degree in Criminal Justice in 1989. I married Randy 19 long years ago and we have 6 children ranging in age from 3 to 18 years old. I have worked numerous jobs from detassling as a teenager, a legal secretary in California, church secretary in Iowa to a daycare provider now. I love being outside and hate doing women stuff inside. I would rather mow the lawn than do dishes or change the tire on my van than sort socks. I am patriotic, opinionated and sometimes loud. I am also a great mom, good friend and I love to laugh - I did marry Randy. I believe in common sense versus reading a book by some "expert". I don't pretend to have all the answers but I am willing to ask the questions that others are afraid to ask and sometimes to my detriment say the things that others only think about saying. I try to avoid confrontation but sometimes it finds me and almost all the time it is necessary to stimulate communication.
