Just saw in the Daily Reporter a small ad for an independent movie entitled: Save a Life. I checked out the website www.tosavealifemovie.com and watched the trailer. In brief the story is about two friends, one an athlete destined for greatness and the other exactly opposite. ...

Make-up snow days
Posted Tuesday, February 9, at 10:51 AM

Including this Friday and Monday, there are at least 9 vacation or in-service days left in the school year. I think those should be make-up days for snow days. I realize that some will say those are written in to contracts etc. but why can that not be negotiated since it has been an unusual amount of snow days? I think that option should always be written in. ...

American's are the root of the problem.
Posted Friday, January 29, at 1:19 PM

This was my comment to the general blog about President Obama's state of the union address and basically my response to other's comments. Thought it made a decent blog so here it is. The government is not responsible for my personal welfare or finances. ...

Been outside?
Posted Tuesday, January 19, at 12:55 PM

How 'bout this Iowa weather? Lots of snow and now ice on the way! Yahoo! Nothing like hunkering down in your house with a bathtub full of water, pitchers of water ready, flashlights, lanterns, and candles on standby and lots of snacks to boot. All in anticipation of the next big storm to come down the Rockies. ...

What station is carrying the Healthcare Debate?
Posted Saturday, January 16, at 4:12 PM

Nope, still haven't found it. Can't find the station carrying coverage of the Healthcare Debacle or I mean Debate. I thought it was supposed to be on Cspan but nope not there. I posted this same question on my Facebook page and not one of my liberal family, friends or foes dared answer or even comment. ...

Whatever happened to good TV?
Posted Monday, January 11, at 9:05 AM

According to TV.com these are the top shows on programming today: Family Guy, NCIS, Law & Order SVU, Dollhouse, Lost, The Simpsons, Bones, House, Heroes, Criminal Minds, How I Met Your Mother, Southpark, Supernatural, Grey's Anatomy...and the list goes on & on. Not one of these shows is worthy of family viewing. Of that list the only one that I watch with my kids is Heroes and even that one is questionable...

Lessons Learned
Posted Tuesday, December 15, at 10:34 AM

Our son was involved in a car accident last week. He suffered a concussion and was nearly thrown from the vehicle. His passenger suffered a torn spleen and had to be airlifted to a bigger hospital. This experience has engraved images in my mind that I hope will fade in time. There are so many lessons to be learned from this experience...

New Technology is not always better
Posted Wednesday, December 2, at 10:04 AM

I don't know who invented the DVD/CD but they were wrong. They are one example of advancements in technology being worse. VCR tapes last longer, are more durable and require far less maintenance. Not to mention that you can put a VCR tape in while your kids are settling in to watch and then go about making supper without having to come back to push play once the previews are done. ...

Anything at all. I was raised on the same farm on which my dad was born. My parents still live there today. I graduated from Eastwood High in 1987 and from Eastern Wyoming College with a degree in Criminal Justice in 1989. I married Randy 19 long years ago and we have 6 children ranging in age from 3 to 18 years old. I have worked numerous jobs from detassling as a teenager, a legal secretary in California, church secretary in Iowa to a daycare provider now. I love being outside and hate doing women stuff inside. I would rather mow the lawn than do dishes or change the tire on my van than sort socks. I am patriotic, opinionated and sometimes loud. I am also a great mom, good friend and I love to laugh - I did marry Randy. I believe in common sense versus reading a book by some "expert". I don't pretend to have all the answers but I am willing to ask the questions that others are afraid to ask and sometimes to my detriment say the things that others only think about saying. I try to avoid confrontation but sometimes it finds me and almost all the time it is necessary to stimulate communication.
